MBE
In the 2006 New Years Honours list Paul Fletcher was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). The award was made for services to 'Football and to Charity' with the investiture taking place by her Majesty the Queen on Wednesday 28th February at Buckingham Palace.
The proposal was made by George Binns ex secretary at Huddersfield Town FC; Kenneth Sharp Commercial Director at Coventry City Football Club; Kenneth Heathcote from Bolton (known nationally as The father of fitness) and daughter Claire, who co-ordinated the proposal and received over 130 support letter form all around the globe.
The whole Fletcher family made the trip, 10 in all with wife Sian, daughter Claire and son Daniel official escorts into Buckingham Palace (only three guests allowed - even for David Beckham and Rod Stewart!).
The event was celebrated afterwards with a fish & chip lunch at the Dorchester Hotel; trip on the London Eye and an evening visit to see 'Lion King'. On the following day Labour MP and Coventry City Chairman Geoffrey Robinson hosted a late afternoon celebration at a private room at the House of Commons, followed by a tour of the House of Lords by Lord Faulkner.
