Leeds v Burnley 1974
'Goal of the decade'

On Saturday 23rd March 1974 Don Revie's great team of the 1970's sat 8 points clear at the top of the 1st Division (Premiership) and were unbeaten at home for almost 2 years. Burnley Chairman Bob Lord and Leeds United Chairman Manny Cousins had exchanged heated words in the run-up to the game and Lord and his fellow directors refused to attend the game. Throughout the game Adamson's Burnley side were outstanding and goals from Collins; Fletcher (2) and Nulty emphasised Burnley's superiority on the day. Fletchers second Goal, an over-head kick from just inside the box, was later voted Burnley's 'Goal of the Decade' and will be forever etched in the folklore of the famous Lancashire Club.
